2008-May-13 - The Holy Ghost

Posted in Religion

The day before yesterday we celebrated the coming of the Holy Spirit, The true Spirit of God. The Spirit Jesus already showed to his disciples : the Spirit of love, understanding, respect, forgiveness. The Spirit that knows no hatred to those who don't believe. and no revenge to those who hurt and despise us. That is the Spirit that belongs to God and to Jesus. That is what we call the Holy Trinity. Three different ways of God to show Himself to this world.

Gosh, that is so beautiful! The churches over here are so different. Most of the New Catholic churches that are being built are being built Mission style.

That's nice that you have that special day to celebrate...:)

The Church is Peterborough Cathedral in England and one of those splendid old cathedrals from the 15th and 16th centuries. And you are right: the modern churches are very sober and simple. Don't you celebrate Whitsunday? Our three main Christian Holidays are: Christmas, Easter, Whitsunday and then there is also Ascensionday, which is 10 days before Whitsunday.

No, I've never heard of Whitsunday.
We have Ascension day, but I think it's called something else.

The Sunday of the feast of Whitsun or Pentecost in the Christian liturgical year, observed 7 weeks after Easter.Without Whitsuntide or Pentecost you and I would never had heard of Jesus Christ. It was then that the disciples started to talk about Jesus and preached the gospel.

Okay! Drog, thank you. I believe it's Whitsun( tide) in British English. ( Whitsun, Whit Saturday, Whit Sunday, Whit Monday, etc.) I learned Br. English, though long ago!

What a glorious structure, the inside of that church! Simply gorgeous & it must be quite awe-inspiring when seen in real life. Hope your Whitsun Day was memorable.

Thank you Kimmi. My sister, brother-in-law and I went to the birthday of their youngest son. We cycled and that was marvellous because the weather was just perfect.
